Multiple View Geometry Under the L∞-norm

چکیده
This paper presents a new framework for solving geometric structure and motion problems based on L∞-norm. Instead of using the common sum-of-squares cost function, that is, the L2-norm, the model-fitting errors are measured using the L∞-norm. Unlike traditional methods based on L2, our framework allows for efficient computation of global estimates. We show that a variety of structure and motion problems, for example, triangulation, camera resectioning and homography estimation can be recast as quasi-convex optimization problems within this framework. These problems can be efficiently solved using Second-Order Cone Programming (SOCP) which is a standard technique in convex optimization. The methods have been implemented in Matlab and the resulting toolbox has been made publicly available. The algorithms have been validated on real data in different settings on problems with small and large dimensions and with excellent performance.

Smooth Approximation of L∞-Norm for Multi-View Geometry
Recently the L∞-norm optimization has been introduced to multi-view geometry to achieve global optimality. It is solved through solving a sequence of SOCP (second order cone programming) feasibility problem which needs sophisticated solvers and time consuming. This paper presents an efficient smooth approximation for L∞-norm optimization in multi-view geometry using log-sum-exp functions. We ha...
متن کاملMINIMIZING HANKEL’S NORM AS DESIGN CRITERION OF MULTIPLE TUNED MASS DAMPERS
Tuned mass damper (TMD) have been studied and installed in structures extensively to protect the structures against lateral loads. Multiple tuned mass dampers (MTMDs) which include a number of TMDs with different parameters have been proposed for improving the performance of single TMDs. When the structural system is considered as multiple degrees of freedom (MDOF) and implemented with MTMDs, t...

L1norm multiple kernel learning Support Vector Regression (MKLSVR) has been successfully applied to option price...
متن کاملA new method to determine a well-dispersed subsets of non-dominated vectors for MOMILP problem
Multi-objective optimization is the simultaneous consideration of two or more objective functions that are completely or partially inconflict with each other. The optimality of such optimizations is largely defined through the Pareto optimality. Multiple objective integer linear programs (MOILP) are special cases of multiple criteria decision making problems. Numerous algorithms have been desig...
متن کاملAspects of Total Variation Regularized L Function Approximation∗
The total variation based image denoising model of Rudin, Osher, and Fatemi has been generalized and modified in many ways in the literature; one of these modifications is to use the L1 norm as the fidelity term. We study the interesting consequences of this modification, especially from the point of view of geometric properties of its solutions. It turns out to have interesting new implication...
